Wood Sculptures

I've been working in wood for most of my life, as a small boy sitting on the beach, bored on holiday, I would carve model aeroplanes from discarded lollypop sticks. Now I carve everything from spoons and furniture to full size dragons and people.

I'm influenced by organic shapes, Celtic myths and legends, animals, bodies, spirals and twisty curvy stuff, sometimes combine metal and other materials in my work. I also run workshops in pole lathe and green woodworking; workshops can also be incorporated into any large sculpture in the design and carving of the piece commissioned.

I've divided the work into 'Commissioned Work' and 'Competition Carving'. The main difference is with competition carving I am against the clock, and working with wood provided by the organisers.
